Apatite is a lovely gemstone in a bright apple green colour and fairly translucent. It is fairly common but gem grade Apatite is rare and expensive. 

Apatite is formed in sedimentary rocks from aqueous solutions, when phosphate ions and calcium ions react together.

The calcium phosphates are also the principal inorganic constitutes of bone and teeth.
